Hi, I just thought I should try and explain how to copy and paste text into a website. I have numerous clients who end up in difficulty when it comes to copying and pasting from Microsoft Word or similar applications

The reason is that Word contains a lot of excess code that it uses to format the text. This code can play havoc with formatting of the text when placed in the website resulting in inconsistent formatting.

The solution is simple: paste the code into a basic text editor such as Notepad on a PC or Textedit on a Mac. Then copy and paste into the website. Here’s how:
