It seems we are now at the tail end of the 'paisley' period and emerging into a new dawn of 'the bold and blocky' as predicted by Nostradamus (or not as the case may be).
Usually I wouldn't bother writing a post on web design trends since there is a whole website dedicated to just that cause - www.designmeltdown.com. I went there to try and confirm my suspicions of the emerging trend but alas the whole site is down! All I could see was this:

(Actually I did alter it slightly in Photoshop.) Right back to the topic in hand - 'the bold and the blocky'. In my valiant efforts to stay on the cutting edge of web design and development I see a lot of websites everyday especially ones to do with web design. In fact I must admit I'm often prone to a bit of 'wilfing'. Many of the sites i come across now are built on blogging engines since that is the way to go, this means the similarities and novel inventive ways of displaying the same kind of content are easier to see. Have a look at the following websites:

Basically it seems the current trend is towards:
- Big
- Bold
- Blocky
- Primary Colours
- Easy on the eye
- 'Accessibilty'
You could say it's like Web 2.0 but without so much gloss - anyway this is just my personal view on web design trends. Any comments?
