It seems we are now at the tail end of the 'paisley' period and emerging into a new dawn of 'the bold and blocky' as predicted by Nostradamus (or not as the case may be).
Usually I wouldn't bother writing a post on web design trends since there is a whole website dedicated to just that cause - www.designmeltdown.com. I went there to try and confirm my suspicions of the emerging trend but alas the whole site is down! All I could see was this:

Hi, I just thought I should try and explain how to copy and paste text into a website. I have numerous clients who end up in difficulty when it comes to copying and pasting from Microsoft Word or similar applications
The reason is that Word contains a lot of excess code that it uses to format the text. This code can play havoc with formatting of the text when placed in the website resulting in inconsistent formatting.
The solution is simple: paste the code into a basic text editor such as Notepad on a PC or Textedit on a Mac. Then copy and paste into the website. Here’s how:

I've been meaning to write this post for ages and finally here it is. I've been slow to get into Podcasts as usually any big hip trends I tend to avoid us much as possible as I like to independent and not go with the ‘sheep’. “Innovate don’t imitate” – I read it in a graphic design book. Anyway I finally succumbed to Podcasts just as I did to Facebook. Whilst designing and building websites usually I listen to music but got bored of my extensive collection and turned to the iTunes shop within iTunes where you can find and download free podcasts.
Web Design Podcasts Review

You just can’t beat these guys, I look forward to their podcast every week just as I’d look forward to a weekly TV show. They are funny and very informative indeed. I’ve learnt a lot by listening to them. It’s sad when it finishes and I have to wait another week.

As a web designer it took me many months before I succumbed to a barrage of peer pressure and eventually joined the fabled 'Facebook'. Also known as 'My Space' for adults.
I recently noticed online adverts there so I thought I'd give it a go since to do the same with Google Ads would be way out of my price range. So I made a graphic, set my budget and used the ‘Pay per click’ option and launched my ‘Flyer’.
I set my target audience as anyone in the ‘Australia network’ above a certain age. The ad ran for three days and was shown 361,071 times! – 93 people actually clicked on it and went to my website.

I'm building a new site for Triple X wetsuits at the moment with Joomla and an integrated shop - VirtueMart. Unfortunately the default shipping options could do what my client wanted so I thankfully came across
www.joomlancers.com.
As I'm more a web designer than a developer I can't code in php and around here it's not really an option to hire a php coder since they charge an understandably large amount.
Joomlancers to the rescue! basically you can post a project on there for people to build on worldwide. As many of the bidders come from countries where the cost of living is far less they can charge far less to do the same job.
In the end the job was posted, bid on , and completed in less than 24hrs. I chose 'Bao Nguyen Quoc' from Vietnam who goes by the screen name of 'experter' on Joomlancers.
He did the job perfectly with no worries at all. Anyway I just thought I'd share that with you since it's exiting more me. It means I can build pretty much what ever anyone wants. I'm not limited anymore!
So thanks Joomlancers and Bao :)
